Frequently Asked Questions
Getting started
What is Aethelbridge Care?
Aethelbridge Care is a care platform that connects four groups of people: the person receiving support, the family around them, the verified professionals who visit, and the care organisations that provide teams. It brings daily wellbeing, medication support, emergency help, communication and professional care into one place.
Who is it for?
It is designed for anyone who needs a little more support at home, and for the people who help them. That includes older adults, people managing a health condition, people recovering after a hospital stay, and anyone whose family wants to stay closer without taking over.
How do I get started?
Choose Get Started and tell us whether you are setting up for a loved one, for yourself, joining as a professional, or enquiring for a care service. We will take you to the right place.
Can I use it for more than one person?
Yes. The Family and Care Plus plans support more than one loved one from the same account.
What does it cost?
A subscription covers the platform. Professional visits are arranged and paid for separately, with the price shown before you book. See our pricing page for full details.
What devices does it work on?
Aethelbridge Care works on iPhone and Android phones, on Windows computers, and in a web browser. Your loved one can use it on the device they already have.
What do I need to get started?
A phone the supported person already owns, an email address for each person with their own account, and about half an hour together. Aethelbridge Care does not require new hardware.
Can I set this up for a parent?
You can help, but they confirm the account themselves. Nothing becomes active and nothing is shared until the supported user has agreed to it.
Which login should I use?
Families and Service users use the Family Portal. Professional carers and agency coordinators use the Agency & Admin Portal. If you pick the wrong one you can switch on the same page — nothing is lost.
I have forgotten my password.
Choose “Forgot password” on the login page and we will email you a reset link. The link expires after a short period for security; request a new one if it has run out.
Can I have more than one supported user on one account?
Yes. Family and Care+ accounts can support more than one person, each with their own trusted circle and permissions. The plans page sets out what each plan includes.
How do I change the time of the daily check-in?
The supported user can change it in their settings at any time. Family members cannot change it on their behalf — the routine belongs to the person following it.
What happens if a check-in is missed?
Aethelbridge Care follows the escalation preferences set during setup: a reminder first, then a notification to the trusted circle after the interval you chose. Both the interval and who is notified are configurable.
Can a reminder be answered by voice?
Yes. Check-ins and medication reminders can be answered by speaking rather than tapping, which many people find considerably easier.
Does my parent need a new phone?
No. Aethelbridge Care is designed to run well on the phone someone already owns, including older devices.
Are the apps available now?
Not yet. The Download Centre will list the store links as each app is published; until then it shows what is coming and when.
Alerts & emergencies
Does it replace the emergency services?
No. Aethelbridge Care alerts the trusted contacts your loved one has approved, and shares the information they have agreed to share. In an emergency, always call the emergency services first.
Why am I not getting notifications?
Check that notifications are enabled for Aethelbridge Care in your phone's settings, and that you have alert permissions in the trusted circle. Both need to be on.
I am getting too many notifications.
Notification preferences are per person. You can keep emergency alerts on while moving routine updates to the dashboard only, so your phone stays quiet for the ordinary things.
Does an emergency alert contact the emergency services?
No. An emergency request alerts the trusted circle you have chosen. It is not a monitored alarm service and does not contact 999 on your behalf. In a life-threatening emergency, always call 999 directly.
Privacy & data
Can family members see everything?
No. Your loved one approves who joins their trusted circle and decides what each person can see. They can change or remove that access at any time.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Information is encrypted, access is limited by role, and every access to sensitive information is recorded. You can read exactly how we handle data on our Security and Privacy page.
How do you check the professionals?
We confirm identity and right to work, check the qualifications the role requires, obtain the background checks appropriate to the setting, and verify professional registration where it applies. Compliance is monitored, and anyone whose documents lapse is automatically restricted from affected work.
Who can see my information?
Only the people you have added to your trusted circle, and only the specific things you have shared with each of them. You can see exactly what each person can access, and change it whenever you like.
How do I stop sharing something?
Open your trusted circle, choose the person, and switch off the permission. It takes effect immediately and you do not need anyone's approval.
How do I request a copy of my data, or ask for it to be deleted?
Use the contact form and choose “Privacy or data request”, or write to us directly. Our Data Protection page explains what we hold and how requests are handled.
Subscription & billing
Is there a free trial?
[Trial terms to be confirmed before publication.]
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription from your account settings, and it will run to the end of the period you have paid for.
How many loved ones can I support on one plan?
The Starter plan covers one person. Family and Care Plus support more than one, so you can look after both parents from the same account.
Can other family members have their own login?
Yes. Family and Care Plus include additional family members, each with their own login and their own permission level.
Do I have to book professional visits?
Not at all. Many families use Aethelbridge Care purely for check-ins, reminders and reassurance. Professional visits are there when you need them.
What happens to our information if we cancel?
You can download your care records before you leave, and we will delete your information in line with our privacy policy and any legal retention requirements.
Is payment secure?
Yes. Payments are handled by a regulated payment provider, and we do not store your card details on our systems.
When will I be able to subscribe?
Checkout opens at launch. Until then, joining the waitlist reserves your place and means you hear the price before anyone asks you for anything.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions will be cancellable from your account at any time, with access continuing to the end of the period you have paid for. Full terms are published with the Terms of Use before checkout opens.
How are agency plans arranged?
Agency plans are arranged with our team rather than bought online, so the arrangement can reflect how your organisation works. Request an agency demo to start that conversation.
Are prices inclusive of VAT?
Yes — prices shown are inclusive of VAT for UK customers.
What is not included in the subscription?
Professional visits. Those are booked and paid for separately, and you always see the full price before you confirm a visit.
Who can see my parent’s information?
Only the people they have added to their trusted circle, and only the specific things they have chosen to share with each person. They can change or withdraw access at any time.
Do you sell data or use it for advertising?
No. We do not sell personal information and we do not use care data for advertising.
How do you price for care homes and agencies?
It depends on your shift volume, service type and the support you need. Book a demonstration and we will put a proposal together for your service.
Working as a caregiver
How am I paid, and when?
Payment is secured before your visit or shift begins. Once you submit your timesheet and it is approved, settlement is released. You can see paid, pending and withdrawable amounts separately in your earnings dashboard.
Am I employed by Aethelbridge Care?
Your engagement terms are set out in full before you accept any work, and they will be confirmed during onboarding. We will always be clear about your status and what it means for you.
What if I need to cancel?
You can cancel through the app. The family or organisation is notified straight away and we begin looking for a replacement. Frequent late cancellations may affect the work you are offered, so please cancel as early as you can.
Do I have to travel far?
Only as far as you choose. You set your travel radius and preferred locations, and we will not show you work outside them.
What happens if one of my documents expires?
We remind you well before it lapses. If it does expire, work requiring that document is paused until you renew it. Everything else stays available.
What if something goes wrong on a visit?
You can raise a concern in the app, and it is routed to the right people immediately. For anything urgent, follow your normal emergency procedures first and record it afterwards.
Still have a question?
The Support Centre has longer help articles, and the team answers most enquiries within two working days.
